Motorcyclist critically injured in Chula Vista crash
A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition Friday night after colliding with a van in Chula Vista, police said.
The crash happened about 3:05 p.m. on northbound Third Avenue near Naples Street, according to Chula Vista Lt. Dan Peak.
It was unclear what caused the crash, but the motorcyclist sustained traumatic injuries to his head and lower extremities, Peak said. He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in San Diego, where he remained in critical condition Friday night.
The rider’s name and age were not disclosed.
The van’s driver was uninjured, remained at the crash scene and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Peak said.
Chula Vista Police Department’s traffic division was investigating the collision, and anyone with information about the crash was asked to call the Police Department at (619) 691-5151.
